Investigate low frame rate with a repeatable game scene and a record of the current settings. Check the display configuration separately, then test one change at a time. Avoid judging an adjustment from two unrelated scenes.
Establish what is being measured
Microsoft's Advanced display settings show the selected refresh rate, with available options determined by the display. Check the actual setting rather than relying on the monitor's advertised maximum. Change the refresh rate on your monitor in Windows
For gameplay measurement, NVIDIA's FrameView can record frame rates and frame times. Use a supported measurement tool or the game's own performance display, and keep the measurement method consistent. FrameView App
Create a comparison you can repeat
Choose a saved location, built-in benchmark, or other reproducible sequence. Record the game version, display mode, resolution, and graphics preset. Note whether the result is persistently low or mainly affected by occasional interruptions.
Change one documented game setting, repeat the sequence, and compare the result with the baseline. If the visual tradeoff is unacceptable or the evidence is inconclusive, restore the original setting. Keep unrelated downloads and other changes out of the comparison where practical.
Escalate with evidence, not a shopping list
If performance remains disappointing, provide the developer or hardware support team with the repeatable scene, current configuration, and measurements. Ask whether the combination is within the game's supported requirements before buying replacement hardware.
This method does not establish a universal target or guarantee a particular improvement. A reported average is only one part of the experience; keep your observations about visible interruptions and image quality alongside the measurement, without inventing benchmark results.
