Preserve the account that holds progress

Before contacting support, identify which account shows the expected progress and which platform is connected to it. Do not share passwords or recovery codes with another player. If you cannot identify the right account, stop before unlinking and use the publisher's account-support route.
Make one controlled connection test
After compatibility and account identity are established, have the players try the supported invitation route for that title. Record whether the failure occurs during the invitation, party formation, or match entry. That distinction makes a support report more useful than 'cross-play is broken.'
Keep privacy and family restrictions in place unless the authorized account owner deliberately changes them. This checklist helps narrow a problem; it does not promise cross-play support, transferred purchases, or recoverable progress for an unsupported combination.
